Exposure Visits

Academic Year 2019-20

1. Industrial visit to Milma Dairy (11/12/19 & 12/12/19)

As part of the add on course on energy audit, an industrial visit was organized to Milma Dairy, Ramavarmapuram for the second year degree students. Various aspects of energy production, distribution and conversion in view of energy audit was explained during the visit. 

 

2. Class on Solar Eclipse at Panampilly Nagar College (18/12/19)

As part of solar eclipse,  Kerala museum Thiruvananthapuram and Breakthrough Science society jointly organized solar eclipse awareness programme on 18th December 2019 at Panampally on solar eclipse. Their main intention was to clarify the superstition believes on solar eclipse that had been passed by generations. The seminar was introduced by Dr.Babu by giving a clear idea about the history of astronomy. Later the assembly was undertaken by Dr.Rajeev who described about the eclipses. He briefly discussed about the lunar and solar eclipses especially annular eclipse and their basic reason with illustrations. He concluded it by giving the details and specialty of the solar eclipse of 26th December. Participants were also provided with solar filters through which we could observe sun directly

 

3. Study tour of third year B.Sc students (6/11/19 - 9/11/19)

Third year students visited Vigyan Sagar, Science and Technology Park sponsored District Panchayath Thrissur, Sophisticated Test and Instrumentation Center sponsored Jointly by Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment and Cochin University of Science and Technology and Harangi Reservoir, in Souarpet Taluk,  Kodagu District, Karnataka.

Academic Year 2018-19

1. Visit to CUSAT

On 25 January 2019 a visit to CUSAT was arranged for  students of Final year B.Sc and M.Sc. students as part of the open house. Dr Malini K A and Dr Veena Gopalan E  accompanied the students. In the Electronics Lab, students saw a four wheeler controlled by mobile phone, application of Lenz’s Law etc. They visited Thin Film Lab which included Thermal Deposition, RF sputtering and Pulsed Laser Beam techniques and also, the demonstration of Solar cell fabrication Technique. In Magnetic Lab, they observed Bio-medical applications of magnetic materials such as Drug delivery in cancer treatment.  This lab visit helped the students to understand more about the research work.

2. Visit to STIC 

As a part of Sational science day celebrations, the Sophisticated Test and Instrumentation centre (STIC) had arranged an open house visit on 22nd February 2019 for first and second year B.Sc Students. Dr Mini Krishna K and Dr Aneesh George accompanied the students. Various analytical instruments like Scanning Electron Microscope, Transmission Electron Microscope, Atomic Emission Spectroscopy, UV Spectroscopy, Different types of mass and volume calibrates, Mercury Analyzer, CHNO Analyzer, Gas Chemical Analyzer, Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer, etc. were explained by the experts.  The time spend there was very informative for students.

  

Academic Year 2017-18

1. Programme on VCASS

A one day programme was arranged by the department on 18th November 2017 for the school students in the VCASS sponsorship programme of college. A  power point presentation on physics in daily life was presented by the second year UG students .There was a quiz programme on Science for the students . Variety entertainments were arranged with student participation . Students from VCASS sponsorship programme were invited for the sky-watch workshop  and around twenty  students  participated in the eye to sky workshop held on8th of December 2017

2. Visit to Christ Villa

The staff and students of Department of physics celebrated Christmas with inmates of Christ villa on December 20,2017. Director Father and sister formally welcomed us to the home. The students brought cakes, sweets and the necessary items by collecting money from among themselves . The students presented memorable cultural events for them and made the occasion joyful. Also, the wonderful bouquet made of paper prepared by M.Sc students was gifted to them

  

3. Visit to Central Jail

Students of Physics along with AICUF  membersvisited Vanitha Jail during their jail week celebrations and presented dance and music for them.

4. Study tour of third year B.Sc students (19/09/17 - 23/09/17)

Third year BSc Students (2015-18) of the department along with the staff members went for the study tour from 19-09-2017 to 23-09-2017. they visited different places of Goa, Murudeswar, Jogg falls and Shimoga during the visit. National Centre for Antartic and Ocean Research was visited as per the requirements of the curriculum. Dr Ravisankar, Scientist, NCAOR explained the activities of the institute followed by an interaction with the scientists at their labs.

Academic Year 2016-17

1. Programme on VCASS

Department of Physics conducted a Programme for the students under the Project ‘VCAS’ on 12/11/2016. Teachers and students of Physics Department interacted with the students. Sri Santosh P Jose gave a talk for the students. There were sessions to improve the skills of the students. Students of our department interacted with  them and conducting  quiz programmes for them
